The First Signal Your Marketing Is Working (It’s Not Sales)

The First Signal Your Marketing Is Working (It’s Not Sales)

When people start marketing something new, they’re usually watching for one thing:

Instant Sales.

No sales means it’s not working, right?
Sales mean it is.

It sounds simple… but it’s actually misleading.

Because long before money shows up, marketing starts sending other signals. And if you don’t know what to look for, you’ll miss them.

Why sales are a terrible early signal

Sales are a lagging indicator.

They depend on:

Your very first campaign doesn’t create all of that at once. It creates momentum first.

If revenue is your only unit of measurement in the beginning, you’ll assume nothing is happening, even when something important is.

The first real signal: recognition

The earliest sign marketing is working isn’t sales.

It’s when people recognize themselves in what you’re saying.

That can look like:

These responses matter more than likes or views.
They mean your message is landing with people.

This matters more than reach!

A post seen by 10 people who feel understood is more valuable than one seen by 1,000 who scroll past it.

Recognition is the foundation of building a relationship.
A warm relational audience is the foundation of sales.

If you skip this first step, of course it’s going to feel like failure.

You’re asking people who have never heard of you and have no idea what you do to hand over their dollars. In this day and age, it doesn’t work that way…

But there’s more…

Once recognition starts happening, other small signs tend to follow:

None of these look impressive on a dashboard.
All of them mean you’re on the right track.

What not to do when you see these signals

This is where many people mess it up.

They see a tiny spark of interest…
and immediately change direction chasing scale.

More platforms.
More posts.
More noise.

Instead of staying with what just worked.

The job of early marketing

At the beginning, marketing has one job:

Make someone feel less alone in their problem.

Not impress them.
Not convince them at gunpoint.

Just show them they’re in the right place.

Sales come later, when you’ve built a relationship with your audience and shown them you are an authority that can be trusted.

If you’ve been showing up and nothing seems to be happening, ask yourself:

If the answer is yes, your marketing is working.

You just caught it at the quiet stage.

.Pay attention to the small signals.
They’re trying to tell you something.

What I’d Do Differently If I Had to Start Marketing From Zero Today

What I’d Do Differently If I Had to Start Marketing From Zero Today

People often ask me, “Kerry, if you had to start marketing again today - no audience, no momentum - what would you do?”

I had the privilege of starting down this road over 20 years ago.

(I know it’s hard to believe, given my dashing good looks)

But given where the world is at now, with everyone trying to do more, more, more…

I’d try to do less, but with intention.

Because most marketing mistakes don’t come from laziness, or lack of content.
They come from rushing past the fundamentals.

Here’s what I’d do differently.

I’d stop trying to look professional so early

I had a baaaaaad habit of wanting everything to be perfect before I could launch anything.

Any perfectionists in the house?

When you’re starting out, it’s tempting to:

I’d skip most of that.

What I’ve learned is I am actually doing my clients a disservice with my perfectionism.

If I never get my services out there, I am never going to help anybody solve their problems

Early marketing doesn’t need polish — it needs to exist!

Clear beats impressive.
Specific beats slick.
Out there beats “still working on it”.

And as you get feedback from your clients you can adjust EXACTLY according to their needs. It’s a win-win.

I’d focus on one problem, not a niche

Everyone says “pick a niche,” but that advice often backfires.

Instead of asking who I serve, I’d focus on:

When you can help fix someone’s pain, the audience finds you.

Trying to appeal to everyone usually results in sounding like no one.

I’d automate what used to drain time

20 years ago, I had to do everything myself.

And when I did learn to delegate and automate, it was with my amazing filipino techies.

Now, tasks that once took hours - drafting, organising ideas, testing variations - no longer need that level of manual effort.

Automation isn’t about rushing or cutting corners.

It’s about removing unnecessary friction, so more energy can go into the things that really matter.

With AI and the tech we have today, you don’t have to earn efficiency the hard way.

Final thought

If I were starting from zero today, I wouldn’t try to outwork everyone.

I’d try to out-understand the problem.

I’d keep things simple. Start before I felt ready.

And use today’s tools to remove friction.

You don’t need more tactics.
You don’t need to do everything.

You just need to do the right things on purpose.

Why “Just Be Consistent” Is Terrible Advice for New Businesses

Why “Just Be Consistent” Is Terrible Advice for New Businesses

If you’ve spent any time looking at marketing advice, you’ve probably heard:

“Just be consistent.”

Post consistently.
Show up consistently.
Keep going, and it’ll work out eventually.

It sounds reasonable. Encouraging, even.

But for most new businesses, creators, and solo founders, this advice does not help and can even make things worse!

Let me explain why…

Consistency isn’t the problem

When people say “Facebook marketing didn’t work for me,” they usually follow it up with something like:

“I posted for months and got nothing.”

Or:

“I was really consistent, but it didn’t lead anywhere.”

The issue isn’t that they weren’t trying hard enough.
It’s that they were being consistently wrong.

And nobody tells you that part.

Consistency only helps after you’ve found something that resonates.
Before that, it just locks you into repeating the same mistake over and over.

Consistency without feedback is just noise

If you don’t know why something should work, doing it more often won’t magically make it work.

Posting three times a week instead of once doesn’t fix:

It just makes the disappointment arrive faster.

Yet most beginner advice skips straight to output:
“Post every day.”
“Stay front of mind.”
“Just keep going.”

Without ever asking:
Am I actually posting content people want?

When “be consistent” is the only guidance you’re given, you end up doing one of two things:

  1. Burning out
You keep posting into the void and assume you are the problem.
  1. Copying louder people
You mimic what looks successful, even if it doesn’t fit you or your audience.

Neither leads to sales.
Both lead to frustration.

If consistency is going to help you at all, it needs to be in the right place

Early on, consistency should be applied to learning, not volume.

Be consistent about:

That might even mean posting less, not more.

It might mean writing one good ad, then refining and tweaking, instead of moving on to the next one.

You’re looking for signs that:

That’s how marketing actually starts working.

Once you have that, then consistency becomes powerful.
Because now you’re repeating something that has proven it deserves repeating.

If I had to rewrite “just be consistent” into something useful, it would be this:

Be consistent about paying attention.
Be consistent about adjusting.
Be consistent about learning what your audience actually wants.

Everything else comes later.

No, Andromeda Did Not Kill Your Ads. It Just Exposed Weak Strategy!

Everyone's Blaming Andromeda. But Here's What's Actually Killing Your Ads

"Facebook Ads are broken."

Facebook Ads are broken." I've heard that exact sentence 500 times this month. From six-figure business owners. From marketers who've been running ads for years. From people who should absolutely know better.

Here is the truth.
Andromeda did not break your ads.
It just made the gaps in your strategy impossible to ignore.

Why Everyone Thinks the Algorithm Is the Problem

When results dip, blaming the platform is the easiest story to tell yourself.

“It changed again.”
“My account is cursed.”
“Meta hates small businesses.”

I hear it all the time.

But here is what is really going on.

Andromeda is not just an update. It’s a smarter, faster delivery system. It reads your creative, your offer, your signals, and your structure, then decides who should see what.

If your creative is weak or your message is unclear, it learns that instantly.
If your campaign structure is messy, it exposes that too.
If your funnel is leaking, Andromeda makes that obvious.

The algorithm isn’t your enemy.
It’s a very honest mirror.

What Actually Changed With Andromeda

Andromeda changed the how, not the why.

Here’s what shifted, and why it matters.

The Real Reason Ads Are Failing

Your ads don’t fail because Andromeda is out to get you.

They fail because the fundamentals were shaky before Andromeda ever showed up.

Here’s what is actually killing performance right now:

Andromeda did not break these things.
It just refuses to cover them up.

A wedding photographer came to my AI-Driven Facebook Ads Masterclass convinced her account was cursed. She'd spent $3K in three months. Strong clicks. Zero bookings. She blamed Andromeda.

I looked at her account in 30 seconds and knew exactly what was wrong.

One week after she fixed her structure, clarified her offer, and rebuilt her creatives with clear angles, she booked a wedding and is following up on 5 more strong leads. Same budget. Better inputs."

“Kerry, quick update. Since your masterclass and joining the program, I simplified my campaigns and fixed my creative like you explained. I booked a wedding last week, yay and I have 5 more I’ve sent quotes.. and they are looking like they are going to convert.  Thank you so much.  I don’t know what I would have done without your input. Facebook ads are finally making sense again.”

Andromeda rewarded the stronger inputs almost immediately.

How to Work With Andromeda Instead of Fighting It

The system has changed, but your strategy does not need to become complicated. It just has to be solid.

  1. Strengthen your creative

Your creative is now your targeting.
Different creatives attract different buyers.
Use formats and angles that speak to each stage of awareness.

  1. Simplify your structure

One to two campaigns.
Three if you’re list building.
One or two broad ad sets.
Stop slicing your data into tiny pieces.

Let Meta learn faster.

  1. Fix the click to checkout gap

If people click and don’t buy, it’s not the algorithm.
It’s the experience.
Speed. Clarity. Relevance. Follow up.
This is where revenue is won or lost.

  1. Be patient

You cannot judge a campaign in 24 hours.
Give it a week.
Let the system stabilise.
Emotional “fixes” are the fastest way to kill strong campaigns.

Final Thought

Andromeda is powerful. But it’s not a miracle worker.

It does not replace strategy.
It does not rewrite weak offers.
It does not fix messy funnels.

It simply amplifies whatever you give it.

So give it something worth amplifying.

Your ads are not broken.
Your system just needs an upgrade.

How to Verify your Domain in Facebook Business Manager

Heya, I’m excited you want to learn how to verify your website domain in Facebook – I’m guessing you are here because you have watched my video on Facebook, where I talk about the Apple Privacy Rules (IOS 14 Update)? (If you haven’t here is a link to go back and watch it.)

[wonderplugin_video iframe="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=476&href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fsocialmediaplusone%2Fvideos%2F1069215120245220%2F&show_text=0&width=267" lightbox=0 lightboxsize=1 lightboxwidth=960 lightboxheight=540 autoopen=0 autoopendelay=0 autoclose=0 lightboxtitle="" lightboxgroup="" lightboxshownavigation=0 showimage="" lightboxoptions="" videowidth=600 videoheight=400 keepaspectratio=1 autoplay=0 loop=0 videocss="position:relative;display:block;background-color:#000;overflow:hidden;max-width:100%;margin:0 auto;" playbutton="https://socialmediaplusone.com/wp-content/plugins/wonderplugin-video-embed/engine/playvideo-64-64-0.png"]

Firstly for those who are a bit more curious about what Domain Verification actually is….

What is Domain Verification?

Domain Verification provides a way for you to claim ownership of your domain in Business Manager. This ownership allows you to control editing privileges of your links and other content to prevent misuse of your domain and to keep bad actors from spreading misinformation.

So it’s a pretty important step for you to do if you are currently advertising on Facebook or you plan to in the future.

In this video, (This is one of the training webinars I held for my Facebook Marketing Mastery clients – so shhh don’t tell them I’m sharing it with you.)

Anyway I will show you one of the benefits to verifying your domain and then I will go through the two step process on setting it up.
